It’s the Coachella Valley version of the Oscars! “Glitz and Glitter” is the 20th annual awards banquet presented by Desert Theatre League.
At 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, 2007, Desert Theatre League will present more than 100 awards for excellence in the performing arts for the 2006-07 season. The event will be at Woodhaven Country Club, 41-555 Woodhaven Drive East, Palm Desert.
Entertainment
Tony-nominated singer Donna Theodore will be the headline performer. DTL will present a Lifetime Achievement Award to jazz diva Yve Evans, who also will entertain attendees. Other performers will include local favorites Mara Getz, Brian Scott and Marko. Noted radio personality Bonnie G and Grammy nominee musician/singer/announcer Don Martin will emcee the evening.
Awards
Desert Stars Awards will be presented to productions, actors, singers, dancers, directors, costumers, make-up artists, sound, lighting and set designers, and others. DTL also will present four special awards that recognize support of or achievement in the performing arts: the Joan Woodbury Mitchell Award; the Sidney Harmon Award; the Michael Grossman Most Inspirational Award and the Bill Kuhlman Award.
Tickets
In addition to entertainment and awards presentations, the evening includes a full dinner. Tickets are $40 for adults; and $25 for youth 12 and under. Tables of 10 are $400.
